Rhythm in words

Da… da-da, da. Da-da da-da daaa.

How to play this

  1. 1Stay on Low E, the thickest string.
  2. 2Bar 1 is a stomp: play 0, wait, then two short 0s, then wait again.
  3. 3Bar 2 is 0, 0, 3, 0, then hold 5. That 3-to-5 is the “bites the dust” walk.

Practice slowly

The silent spots are the groove. If you fill them in, it stops sounding like Queen. Start with Hear the notes at full speed or slower, then copy on the guitar. If a note buzzes, press a little closer to the fret wire — not in the middle of the space.

This arrangement is a simplified educational excerpt for learning. Playback is a computer playing the tab notes, not the original recording. It is not a full transcription and is not affiliated with Queen.
